VISA

Visitor visa

Most tourists are allowed to stay in Canada for up to 6 months. At the port of entry, border officials may permit you to stay for less or more than 6 months. In such cases, they will specify the date by which you must leave Canada in your passport. They may also issue you a document called a “visitor record,” which indicates the date you must depart Canada. If they do not stamp or write anything in your passport, you may stay for up to 6 months from the date you entered Canada or until your passport expires, whichever comes first. If you need a stamp in your passport, you can request the border official to stamp it at the port of entry. If you arrive at an airport port of entry and only go through the kiosks, you can request a stamp after completing the kiosk process.
